The eDesign Process

How does eDesign work? Everyone seems to do it a bit differently, but in this post I’m going to try to break down our process. This is subject to change as we learn and grow, but this is a general overview of how the whole thing works. Let me know if you have any other questions - that’s what we are here for!

Step 1: Let’s connect!

To begin with, we need to connect! Book a Discovery Call here! This 20 minute call let’s us discuss what you’re looking for, preliminary budget, and just get to know each other so we can make sure we’re a good fit. We will go over the different design services, as well as discuss what can be expected throughout your project.

Step 2: Select your services

We offer a variety of services at set fees which differ based on the needs of your project. Read more about them here. Since this post is about eDesign, I’m going to assume that’s what you chose.

Step 3: Homework

Because I am not in your home, you have a little homework to complete for your eDesign package. You’ll complete our client questionnaire, send us photos and dimensions of your space(s) and anything you intend to keep. (We’ll make it super simple with a handy how-to guide.)

Step 4: Virtual Consultation

After receiving your homework, we will schedule a video call with you to make sure we really understand your space and needs and that we are on the right track! The length of this phone call is dependent on the scope of your project, with larger projects taking longer to discuss. This is the time where you can ask any questions you may have specific to your design and fill me in on any additional information you need to share. We will discuss your budget for the project and timeline for completion. I will also have some questions for you about how you use the space and your style. I will also ask questions about what furnishings you may want to keep or if you love the current paint color - basically we are getting into the nitty gritty! This will also be when I let you know what additional information I may need from you regarding room and furniture dimensions, and photographs of the space or furnishings/finishes you wish to keep.

Step 5: Concept Board

Within a week of our call, you’ll receive a digital concept board for your approval. This will include possible floor plans, initial color schemes, and inspiration images to make sure we are headed in the right direction before we start making actual selections. No one wants to go through the whole process just to find out that you REALLY wanted a sectional sofa!

Step 6: Design Time

Give us a few weeks to put your design together - we will check in with you weekly to let you know how it’s going!

Step 7: Receive your Design Kit in the Mail - You’ll receive your custom design package in the mail with everything you need to easily put the rooms together just as they were designed. You’ll receive:

  • Printed Drawings to Scale - So you know where to put everything!

  • Design Boards - Showing all the selections together so you can visualize the end product.

  • Shopping List - Includes product details such as dimensions, where/how to buy, price, and other details. (Don’t worry - you’ll also get a digital shopping list with links for easy shopping!)

  • Material Samples - Such as paint chips, wallpaper samples, fabric swatches, and more.

  • Styling Guide - This helps explain how to style your new space just like I would if I was there. Includes info about how to hang curtains, how high to mount pictures, and how to arrange pillow!

Step 8: Follow-up Call - We will have a call after you’ve had a chance to look over everything to answer any questions you have and offer a few alternatives if something didn’t quite hit the nail on the head.

Step 9: Review

After the project is complete, we will reach back out to get feedback on our services and your purchases. We would also love for you to share photos of the finished space and reviews with us!

That is a basic overview of how the e-design packages work and hopefully this has answered most of the questions you have about what to expect. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out - I would love to connect with you!
